Can parents prevent their children from going abroad?
Nevertheless, it has a limit. On the normal and acceptable conditions like having pilgrimage having education, if parents dont let him go, it dependswhen they provide shelter, food and other needs for the parents and never let them need for other people, parents can not have such a right, preventing them from having such a journey.
However, if the person leaves them in a situation in which they are in need of others and does not rescue them from that situation, they may not be allowed to go. Moreover, on that condition he cannot have the right to go.
In Fatava-i Kadıhan, it is said that if the child is too little to travel or it is dangerous for him to go for a different reason, parents can hinder him, but when the problem is sorted out, he can be allowed to go.
The father has priority in respect and the mother in service. So the person must have no respect in respect to the father and in service for the mother. He must try not to upset them as far as possible if they are wrong.
